James Isaak: Songs
Suits And Ties
(James Isaak)
Hey all you men in you suits and your ties
you walk in a room and you fill it with lies
till the air is so cluttered you cant use your eyes
you flatter and con and babble and boast
you cackle like witches and raise up your toast
and inside your soul is alive like a ghost
you horde your possessions with fierceness and fire
if you find a man honest you call him a liar
and crush him on top of a funeral pyre
the riches pile up and still you’re not pleased
a great empty hole where your heart it should be
it seems like a sorry existence to me
and after you die and your ashes are gone
who in this world will miss what you’ve done
when your palace collapses beneath a black sun
maybe there’s heaven and maybe there’s hell
I don’t know for sure but I can tell you well
that nothing you own can redeem what you sell
