James Isaak: Songs

Do It All Again

(James Isaak)
I was running through a hallway and I can’t remember where
the walls they kept on changing colors and the clock face kept me there
then a man most official looking tried to grab my arm
I tore his suit and collar before he could do me harm
then I turned around and ran real fast back down the way I came
and I never thought that I would have to do it all again

I was fishing in an oil well when a fool came walkin by
his ears were large he was in charge of all the people followin behind
he looked at me real mean and said that god was on his side
so I threw some questions at him but he dodged them on the fly
he gobbled all my taxes and then he said amen
and I never thought that I would have to do it all again

I was sitting in my classroom when the teacher she broke down
so I popped her hood and checked her fluids and pushed her into town
the mechanic told me that it would cost a fortune for him to fix
so I hid her in the bushes and I covered her up with sticks
then I called the insurance company and told ‘em give me ten
and I never thought that I would have to do it all again

I was walkin on a tightrope in the middle of July
I met a man with cash in hand tryin to get to the other side
he offered me a hefty sum to help him with his plight
I threw him down he hit the ground it was an awful sight
then he got back up and chased me round the rope I tried to win
and I never thought that I would have to do it all again

I was losing my religion when a priest came to my side
he told me all about Jesus Christ and why he had to die
but somethin’ sounded fishy with the story that he told
it seems to me that he was killed just to keep the status quo
I said so to the priest and he cried blasphemy and sin
and I never thought that I would have to do it all again
